Peter started playing Tenor horn at the age of 7 in his local village band, Fleckney, in Leicestershire. He progressed on to soprano cornet & then joined Wigston Band staying there for several years before playing for Kibworth Band where he met his wife, Marion, in 1977. After a short stay at championship section Ibstock Band, Peter & Marion moved to Market Harborough in 1981 playing in Harborough Band from 1981 until 2003 - Peter playing principal cornet for the majority of this time.

Peter decided to take a break from playing in 2003 but after 6 months was persuaded to help out at Rushden Town Band where his son, Christopher, was playing baritone. Peter thoroughly enjoyed the friendly atmosphere & was soon asked to take over the helm as Musical Director in April 2004. He still helps Kibworth occasionally but played principal cornet for Rushden Town Band at the Area Contest in 2011 with Martin Dawson standing in as our contest musical director. Peter strengthened the back row at the National Finals in 2011 with Martin once again returning from Pakistan to conduct.

Peter played Repiano cornet for the 2012 Area contest with John Hudson as our musical director.
