Rotary Club Young Musician of the Year 2010
Congratulations to our youngsters who have been taking part
in the Rotary Club "Young Musician of the Year" competition.
It started on February 1st at
Park Road Baptist Church,
Rushden, when Emma, Nathanial, Matt, Kathryn,
Kieran, Josh
and William represented Rushden Town Band.

They then competed at the semi-finals at King John School, Thrapston on Saturday 27th February where they got through to the District Finals which was held on 21st March at Melton Mowbray where they came 2nd (They did well bearing in mind they were up against children up to 14 years of age).
The ajudicator's remarked:
Wombling Song: An enthusiastic and rhythmic account. Balance of parts rather blurred at times but phrasing generally well managed. A characterful performance.
Titanic: Generally fluent and accurate playing although intonation not always secure. A little more dynamics contrast at times would enhance this performance.
Country Gardens: Generally well managed playing with just the occasional lapse. Intonation not always secure but an enthusiastic performance.
Well done to all of them!
